🇸🇪 Alvaro Estrella: “I love the vibe that Melodifestivalen and Eurovision have. They’re so big and so full of love.”

Ahead of the second deltävling of Melodifestivalen 2022, Rosie is joined by Alvaro Estrella to discuss his song “Suave”. He talks about the honour it is for him to represent the Latin American community on stage in Sweden, his work with some of Melodifestivalen’s most recognisable songwriters and his love of The Crown!

The second deltävling of Melodifestivalen will be held on 12th February, with a round every Saturday after that. The final will be on 12th March. Alvaro will be performing fourth in the running order. You can find the rest of the running order here and how the voting works this year here. The second round will be held in the Avicii Arena in Stockholm.

About Alvaro Estrella

Alvaro Estrella returns to Melodifestivalen for the fourth time this year, following 2014’s “Bedroom”, 2020’s “Vamos Amigos” and 2021’s “Bailá Bailá”. He has also been a backing singer and dancer for multiple Melodifestivalen and Eurovision performances including “Popular”, “I Can’t Go On” and “That’s How You Write A Song”.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna”, which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”. The song qualified for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
