Following their successful hosting of Junior Eurovision 2021, France Télévisions is now preparing for Eurovision 2022. The competing entries in their national selection – Eurovision France, C’est Vous Qui Decidez – will be released on February 16th.
New selection – voilà!
No specific details have been given by France Télévisions regarding who will be confirmed to take part in Eurovision France, C’est Vous Qui Decidez. However, we do know that live audition rounds had been held in early January to whittle the number of competing artists down.
What we do know is that both the artists and the songs competing in the selection will be revealed next Wednesday (February 16th). One of the songs revealed will go on to represent France in Turin and try to take the title.
France will be hoping to recreate their success in 2021. Barbara Pravi was only 25 points away from winning the Contest in Rotterdam. Similarly, France Télévisions are confident in their hosting abilities, after Junior Eurovision 2021 was watched by 33 million people.
France Télévisions will reveal further details of France’s participation in Eurovision 2022 shortly.
France’s Eurovision journey
France is a powerhouse in Eurovision, debuting in the first Contest in 1956. Their first entries finished in second place, but no scores were ever published. Since then, France has gone on to win the Contest five times. The most recent win came in 1977, with Marie Myriam’s “L’enfant et l’oiseau”, scoring 136 points.
Recently, France had slumped in results but a change in direction in 2016 has seen a boost in results. Amir finished in 6th position for France with “J’ai charché”, followed by 12th, 13th and 16th places respectively. In 2021, Barbara Pravi was able to wow audiences across Europe and Australia with her song “Voilà”. At the close of voting, France finished in second place, earning a mammoth 499 points.
