🇸🇪 Niello & Lisa Ajax: “You put on a fake smile, but you’re not that happy”

Ahead of their Melodifestivalen participation, Tim interviews Niello & Lisa Ajax, one of the seven acts competing in the second heat of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen. They are participating with the song “Tror Du att Jag Bryr Mig”. They say the song is about how a person fakes their emotions after a break-up has occurred. Niello & Lisa Ajax talk about the staging, as well as what music of theirs you should listen.

The second round of Melodifestivalen will be held on February 12, with a round every Saturday after that. The final will be on March 12. Niello & Lisa Ajax will be performing second on the night. About Niello & Lisa Ajax

Niello is the stage name of rapper Niklas Grahn. This is his Mello debut. Those familiar with Swedish music will know Niello from his 2013 hit “Legenden”. This track, featuring Phantomen, reached number 3 on the Swedish charts and was certified two times platinum. Lisa Ajax has competed in Mello three times. In 2016 she made it to the final with the track “My Heart Wants Me Dead”. She would go to the final in 2017 and 2019 as well, with the songs “I Don’t Give A” and “Torn” respectively.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
