Jérémie Makiese, who will represent Belgium in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, will release his song for the contest March 10, Belgian broadcaster RTBF has announced. The song will be premiered on radioshow Le 8/9 on Vivacité.
Who is Jérémie Makiese?
Jérémie Makiese was selected as Belgium’s representative for Eurovision 2022 back in September, following his victory on The Voice Belgique. On The Voice, he was mentored by Beverly Jo Scott (who co-wrote Belgium’s Eurovision 2015 entry Rhythm Inside by Loïc Nottet). Jérémie joins the ranks of artists who have represented Belgium as well as participating at The Voice Belgique (Roberto Bellarosa, Loïc Nottet, Blanche, and Eliot.) The music video will debut on Le Une simultaneously with the song premiere. Jérémie Makiese has been drawn in the second-half of the second semi final for Eurovision 2022
Belgium’s Eurovision Journey
As one of the countries to debut in 1956, Belgium was represented by Fud Leclerc with the song “Messieurs les noyés de la Seine” and Monny Marc with the song “Le plus beau jour de ma vie”. Since then, Belgium has participated 62 times. They have appeared in the Grand Final 52 times, and have won the competition once (1986).
Belgium’s most recent participation saw them being represented by Hooverphonic with the song “The Wrong Place”. They managed to qualify for the Grand Final once again. During their participation, Hooverphonic managed to place 19th in the competition, receiving 74 points from the Jury and Televoters.
