Rosie has the opportunity to chat to Tone Sekelius before her performance at this weekend’s Melodifestivalen second chance round. They discuss what has happened between her deltävling and this weekend’s performance, the impact of the last few years of her life and the world as a whole on her music, and that black dress.

The second chance round of Melodifestivalen will be held on 5th March, where four performers will win the final tickets for the final on the 12th March. Tone is performing as part of the first group of artists. You can find how the voting works this year here. The second chance round will be held in the Friends Arena in Stockholm.

About Tone Sekelius

Tone Sekelius is making her Melodifestivalen debut. One of Sweden’s biggest YouTubers, Tone kicked off her music career back in 2017 with the song “Awakening”. Tone also wrote and performed the official anthem of Stockholm Pride 2017: “One More In The Crowd”.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
