🇺🇦 Jamala to perform at Germany 12 Points and final of Selecția Națională 2022

Ukrainian Eurovision winner Jamala is to perform at Germany 12 Points, German broadcaster NDR has announced on the eurovision.de website. Jamala will also perform at the final of Selecția Națională 2022 on Saturday. Romania’s public broadcaster TVR confirmed the interval act on their website.

“Fleeing the inferno”

In the post on Facebook, organisers from Romania’s Eurovision page said that Jamala would perform her winning song ‘1944’. Jamala is one of the one million people who were forced to take refuge as a result of the current invasion of Ukraine. As a result of the attack, the EBU chose to remove Russia from the Contest, prompting Russian broadcasters to withdraw from the EBU. Currently, Jamala is on a European tour highlighting the plight of the Ukrainian people, including giving interviews and performing. Jamala has taken refuge in Turkey with her sister after fleeing the war.

The news that Jamala joined the guest line-up for Germany 12 Points comes shortly after the announcement that the night of the German national final will be dedicated to showing solidarity with Ukraine. The NDR says that Jamala will sing ‘1944’ and other songs. Both the Romanian and the German announcement made the link between the lyrics of her song and the current situation in Ukraine.
