🇸🇪 Anders Bagge: “Before I was scared and nervous, and now I’m just nervous!”

Anders Bagge takes time away from rehearsals for this weekend’s Melodifestivalen final to chat to Tim. They discuss his reaction to winning his heat and making it to the final, his feelings towards performing on Saturday and the importance of believing in yourself.

He will compete with the song “Bigger Than The Universe” on Saturday night.

The final of Melodifestivalen will take place on March 12. Anders will perform sixth in the running order, which can be found here. The results will be decided by a 50/50 split between the televote and international juries. It will take place at the Friends Arena in Stockholm.

Anders Bagge is another Melodifestivalen debutant this year, but he is no stranger to the Swedish music industry! He has worked as a music producer alongside Peer Åström, as a judge on Swedish Idol, and has produced music for a plethora of international stars including Celine Dion, Madonna and Enrique Iglesias. He was also one of the writers of “When The Music Dies”, which placed fourth for Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2012.

His entry for Melodifestivalen 2022, “Bigger Than The Universe”, qualified directly to the final.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
