Eurovision 2022 in Turin has not even started their rehearsals, however one country is already finalising plans for next year. It as been confirmed by Israeli Eurovision outlet Euromix that the country will participate in Eurovision 2023. Israeli broadcaster KAN has already published the terms and conditions for any perspective candidates. Channels in Israel must now bid to host the selection process for 2023, they have until 27th March to get these bids in. Cyprus and San Marino have also announced plans for 2023.
Israel In Eurovision 2022
In 2022, Israel will be represented by Michael Ben David with his song I.M. Michael earnt the right to perform at Eurovision 2022 by winning The X Factor Israel back in February. Earlier this week the music video for I.M was released.
Israel’s Eurovision Journey
Israel has a long and wealthy history in the Eurovision Song Contest, making their debut in 1973 with Ilanit and “Ey Sham”. Their first entry scored 97 points, placing 4th. Israel has since gone on to win the Contest on four separate occasions – in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018.
Eden Alene returned to represent Israel in 2021 after the coronavirus pandemic meant that she was not able to perform in Rotterdam the previous year. Alene scored 93 points and finished in 17th place with her song “Set Me Free”.
