A few days into the Eurovision rehearsals, we have unfortunately had our first positive test of COVID-19. The EBU has confirmed that the person who tested positive was from the Portuguese delegation, and is feeling fine and not experiencing any symptoms. The member of the delegation is now undertaking a PCR test and will self-isolate for 7 days.
Portugal is to undertake their 2nd rehearsal today
MARO is set to take the stage for their second rehearsal today. In accordance with the health and safety protocols, the rest of the delegation is not required to self-isolate or quarantine, and close contacts such as MARO will have to wear FFP2 maks both indoors and outdoor.
At the time of writing, Portugal was scheduled to take to the stage at 14:45CET for their rehearsal. However, they are yet to take the Eurovision stage. Further information of when they will be rehearsing will be confirmed in due course.
Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Italy won the right to host the 2022 Eurovision Contest after Måneskin won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. Since then, Turin was selected to host the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, which is due to take place on the 10th, 12th, and 14th of May. 41 countries were set to be competing in the 66th edition of the competition. Armenia and Montenegro have returned, but Russia will not be participating in this year’s competition.
Italy’s 2020 representative, Diodato, will perform as an interval act in the first semi-final, alongside a tribute to Italian dance music called The Dance of Beauty.
The slogan for this year’s Eurovision is “The Sound of Beauty” and you can see more about how the stage fits in with the concept here!
We would like to send our wishes to the Portuguese delegation and wish the individual delegation member who tested positive a speedy recovery.
