🇦🇲 TES Preview: Paper for Rosa Linn in her second rehearsal

Today, second rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 continued. Countries rehearsing on Day 6 include Iceland, Norway, Armenia, Finland, Israel, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Malta and San Marino. Next to rehearse today was Armenia’s Rosa Linn.

Rosa Linn’s second rehearsal

Today we got to watch Rosa Linn’s second rehearsal from the online Press Centre. We got an in-depth preview of how her performance will look on TV on Tuesday 10th May, when she performs in the first Eurovision semi-final. You can watch a small clip of her second rehearsal here!

What can we see from Rosa Linn’s second rehearsal?

We start with a pan around Rosa’s paper-covered room – a lamp, a chair, the walls, to her sat on the bed with her guitar. It’s a very intimate, close-up performance on her during the first verse, full of close-ups and mid-shots. She’s wearing a pale, casual outfit with a white guitar.

She stands up for the first chorus and removes the microphone from its stand, leaving her guitar on the bed. She sings in the centre of her room, dancing as thought she’s the only person who can see her (I say this in a good way – it’s very atmospheric and lovely, with a seemingly unchoreographed feel!)

During the second verse, she starts to run around the room, pulling away bits of paper to reveal dates, a Eurovision heart, the word “snap” on the wall. Before she pulls them away, the lighting on each spot glows warm. The rest of the lighting is white and blue with touches of purple, but Rosa is in a warm glow. A large spotlight, like a moon, appears on the wall at the back of the room – From an above-shot, we watch as Rosa tears this away, and we finally see her on stage – the moon reveals a circle, and we see her from the front, surrounded by warm lighting and the water lit golden. She stands in the circle structure for the last chorus – cool lighting behind her and warm in front. Smoke flows around her, also glowing gold in the lighting.

About Rosa Linn

Rosa Linn is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter and producer from Vanadzor, Armenia. She is a part of Nvak, a programme run by Tamar Kaprelian (Armenia 2015) for young musicians. Armenian head of delegation David Tserunyan describes her as “a small town girl with a big heart and her own story”. In an interview with Flaunt Magazine, she mentions having the ambition to become “Armenia’s first global music artist.”

Armenia’s Eurovision Journey

In 2006, Armenia made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, where André represented the nation with his entry “Without Your Love”, which managed to place 8th overall. Since their debut, Armenia has participated 13 times; 10 of which they made the Grand Final. Their best result was both in 2008 and 2014, where they managed to place 4th with Sirusho and “Qele Qele” and Aram MP3 with “Not Alone”. Armenia was due to participate at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, with Athena Manoukian due to represent them with the song “Chains on You”. Unfortunately, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
