Eurovision Song Contest 2022

Italy earned the right to host the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest after Måneskin won the 2021 Edition of the show in Rotterdam with “Zitti e buoni”. Following their win, Turin was then selected as the host city for Eurovision 2022, and the dates for the contest were announced as the 10th, 12th and 14th of May. Although 41 countries initially entered the competition, the EBU expelled Russia from the contest following its invasion of Ukraine in late February. Armenia and Montenegro are both returning after missing the contest in 2021.

The opening act for tonight’s Semi-Final Two included a presentation highlighting Italian hand gestures performed by host Alessandro Catalan. The interval included a performance by Il Volo, who represented Italy at Eurovision 2015 with “Grande Amore” and placed third. Co-presenters Laura Pausini and Mika also performed a duet.

Additionally, we were treated to previews of performances by Big Five artists Sam Ryder (United Kingdom), Chanel (Spain), and Malik Harris (Germany).
