πŸ‡³πŸ‡± AVROTROS open Submissions for Eurovision 2023

It has been less than a week since Eurovision 2022 concluded. However Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS has already opened submissions for Eurovision 2023. Submissions will close on the 31st August 2022. An artist or songwriter can submit a song to the email address songfestival@avrotros.nl. In 2022 The Netherlands were represented by S10 with the song “De diepte”.

AVROTROS lines out rules for song submission

For a song to be eligible, there are guidelines that should be followed. The artist that submits the song must be of Dutch nationality. It is expected that any song submitted is at least at the demo stage of the process. Artists and songwriters can submit up to three songs each. The song submitted must exceed no more than three minutes. Songs must not have been commercially released before the 1st September 2022. Some of these rules are in place not just within AVROTROS, but also within the EBU.

The Netherlands’ Eurovision Journey

The Netherlands is one of the founding countries of the ESC, having performed the very first song ever on the Eurovision stage back in 1956. While the result of β€œDe Vogels van Holland” is unknown, the Netherlands have clocked 5 wins, with their most recent in 2019. However the Netherlands are also known to have had the longest ever non qualification streak in the semi-final era – they missed out on the final a whopping 8 times between 2005-2012. In 2022 S10 represented The Netherlands with her song “De diepte”. S10 placed 11th in the Eurovision 2022 Grand Final after receiving a total of 171 points.
