๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ป Latvia to participate in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest

Eurovision new year is just four weeks away, and more countries are confirming their intention that they will be participating in next year’s competition. This time, we have another Baltic country confirming its intention, and that is Latvia.

Latvia’s selection method for 2023 to be confirmed

LTV has confirmed to ESCToday that they will be joining the party in the UK next year. However, it is yet to be revealed how they will be selecting Latvia’s Eurovision 2023 representative.

It is most likely that LTV will once again use their national final ‘Supernova’, which has been used since 2015 (except 2021). In 2022, LTV selected 17 entries (16 selected by LTV & 1 via an Online Vote) to compete in a Semi-Final, where the top ten advanced to the final.

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with โ€œMy Starโ€ by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang โ€œI Wanna,โ€ scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015. Latviaโ€™s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Citi Zeni, who performed โ€œEat Your Saladโ€. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 14th with 55 points.
