🇬🇷 Greece receives 106 submissions for Eurovision 2023

After opening the submission period last month, the submission period for Greece’s Eurovision 2023 search has now concluded, where it was revealed that ERT has received 106 submissions.

Higher submissions than last year

Fotis Sergoulopoulos revealed 106 submissions were made to the Greek broadcaster ERT for Eurovision 2023 on the Mid Day show ‘Proian Se Eidon’ on ERT1. This surpasses the 43 songs that were submitted to the broadcaster in 2022, where Amanda Tenfjord emerged victorious.

Artists publicly coming forward

A number of artists from Greece’s music scene have also come forward, publicly announcing they had sent in a song to be considered in Greece’s search for Eurovision glory. These artists include:

  • Antonia Kaouri
  • Melissa Mantzoukis
  • Leon of Athens
  • Operatical
  • Klavdia
  • Evangelia
  • Vasilis Kourtis
  • Aretha
  • Artemis Matafia
  • Joanne
  • Cynthia Verazie

No specific date has been set by ERT to reveal their entrant. However, typically the artist who gets to represent the country is revealed in the new year. The final version of their song is then released in March ahead of the deadline set by the EBU.

Greece’s Eurovision journey

In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” (Κρασί, θάλασσα και τ’αγόρι μου) which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 42 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have one once in 2005.

Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Amanda Tenfjord with the song “Die Together”, which saw Greece qualify for the Grand Final, where they placed 8th, after receiving 215 points from the Jury and Televoters.
