Latvia is continuing their preparations for Supernova 2023. As artists prep for national final to start on Saturday 4th February, Rory speaks to Adriana Miglāne. She is vying to represent Latvia in Liverpool with her song “Like I Wanna”.

Together, Adriana and Rory talk about the meaning behind her song “Like I Wanna” and her previous attempt at Supernova, back in 2019. She also talks about her Eurovision memories and what it would mean for her if she were to represent Latvia in Liverpool.

About Adriana Miglāne

Adriana Miglāne is a singer-songwriter, originally from Riga in Latvia. She first broke into music industry after taking part in the first season of Latvia’s version of the X Factor. After finishing in 3rd place in 2017, Adriana has gone on to release several other songs with success in her native country. She also took part in Supernova once before; in 2019, with her song “Scared of Love”. Her entry for Supernova in 2023 – “Like I Wanna” – is written by Adriana herself, alongside Charlie Mason, Darren Michaels and Martin Älenmark.

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015. Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Citi Zeni, who performed “Eat Your Salad”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 14th with 55 points.
