Latvia is continuing their preparations for Supernova 2023. As artists prepare for the semi-final on the 4th of February, Rory speaks to Patrisha. She is vying to represent Latvia in Liverpool with her song “Hush”.

Together, Rory and Patrisha talk about the inspiration behind her song “Hush”. They also talk about how was inspired by Eurovision fans, her previous experience with Eurovision and her love of mixing musical genres. She also recommends some of her other songs if you enjoy “Hush”.
Patrisha is the stage name of Patrīcija Ksenija Cuprijanoviča, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter. Born in Riga, Patrisha first became interested in music as a child, growing her style as she entered over 70 musical competitions. After taking part in the Latvian version of The X Factor in 2017, Patrisha signed with Universal Records. Since then, her songs have been met with universal acclaim, making her one of the most sought-after artists in Latvia. Her entry to Supernova – “Hush” – is written by Patrisha herself, alongside Jūlijs Melngailis, Krists Indrišonoks, Nanna Prip Pedersen and Rūdolfs Budze.
Latvia’s Eurovision journey
Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015. Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Citi Zeni, who performed “Eat Your Salad”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 14th with 55 points.
