Ahead of Heat 3 of Melodifestivalen this weekend, Angus gets the chance to sit down with Nordman for an interview. They are competing in Melodifestivalen with their song “Släpp alla sorger” (Let go of all sorrows).

The duo talk with Angus about their different musical influences, tease a little of what we can expect to see this weekend, and Sweden’s 1988 Eurovision entry.
About Nordman
Nordman are a Swedish duo consisting of singer Håkan Hemlin and Nyckelharpa player Mats Wester. They first met in 1991, and released their first record in 1994. Nordman have been at the forefront of Swedish folkrock, and have scored numerous hit singles and albums throughout their career. After goin on hiatus in 1998, they got back together and made their Melodifestivalen debut in 2005. “Ödet var min väg” made it to the final and finished 9th. In 2008, Nordman returned with “I lågornas sken” and again made it to the final, this time finishing 6th. Besides releasing new music, they also recently took part in “Så mycket bättre,” a Swedish music show based on Dutch TV programme “Beste Zangers”. This year, they are competing with the song “Släpp alla sorger”, written by Thomas G:son and Jimmy Jansson. Nordman are fourth in the running order for Heat 3.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
