🇨🇭 Remo Forrer to represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2023

In a surprise reveal, Switzerland has chosen Remo Forrer to represent the nation at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. He will perform in the second half of the first semi-final on the 9th of May.

Who is Remo Forrer?

Remo Forrer is a 21-year-old singer from Hemberg SG, in the east of Switzerland. Forrer first came to prominence after winning the third season of The Voice Switzerland in April 2020. Following on from this, he also participated in the German version of the TV show “I Can See Your Voice”. He participated in the show in 2022 and finished as the winner of the episode. Aside from this, Remo can also play the guitar, flute and accordion. Forrer learned how to play these instruments by ear, receiving no formal education.

Remo’s journey to Eurovision was confirmed following an intense multi-stage selection process. A 20-person international expert jury, along with a panel made up of 100 Swiss citizens helped to make the decision. With the panel acting as a televote, Remo received the most points in a simulated internal contest amongst submitted artists.

Regarding his song, Remo Forrer will reveal his entry to the Contest on the 7th of March. Speaking after his selection, Remo gave a hint to his song:

The song means a lot to me. It definitely has catchy tunes and has been following me for months. And it demands everything from my voice, it goes from very low to very high.
