During their interview, Tim and Axel talked about turning 30 in the midst of his participation in this year’s contest, how it felt performing for the crowd for the first time, as well as what he has learnt about taking part in this year’s competition.

About Axel Schylström

In 2012, Axel Schylström became involved in an accident which made him one of Sweden’s burn survivors at the age of 19. But after having over 50 operations and a year in hospital, Axel began his musical joruney when he participated in Idol Sweden in 2015.

After his participation, he then made his debut in Melodifestivalen in 2017 where he competed with “När Ingen Ser”, which made the Andra Chansen round of the competition. In 2022, Axel was one of the co-writers of THEOZ’s “Som du Vill” which placed 7th.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
