🇱🇹 Monika Linkytė: “Don’t stress too much”

This weekend Tim is on the ground at Barcelona Eurovision Party. Tim had the chance to speak to some Eurovision stars past and present. While there Tim spoke with Lithuania’s Monika Linkytė, who will be representing the country with the song “Stay”.

Together Tim and Monika spoke about how she feels doing Eurovision solo this year, potential changes for her performance from the national final. Tim and Monika also speak about things she has learnt from her experience at Eurovision in 2015.

About Monika Linkytė

Monika Linkytė is a 30-year old singer originally from Gargždai in Lithuania. Monika has always had a love for the Eurovision Song Contest, she attempted to represent her nation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2007. Monika then attempted to represent Lithuania in the main contest from 2010 to 2014, then in 2015 she alongside Vaidas Baumila represented the country with their song “This Time”. In 2015 Monika and Vaidas finished in 18th place in the Grand Final with 30 points. In 2023 Monika’s song is entitled “Stay” and was written by Monika herself as well as input from Krists Indrišonoks and Jānis Jačmenkins.

Lithuania’s Eurovision Journey

The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 21 times and made the Grand Final 14 times. LT United gave Lithuania their best ever Eurovision result back in 2006, where the country placed 6th.

Lithuania’s latest Eurovision participation, saw them being represented by Monika Liu, participated with the song “Sentimentai”. Qualifying for the final, Lithuania finished in 14th place overall, with 128 points.
