Piqued Jack’ first rehearsal
The next act to take to the Eurovision 2023 stage at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool was San Marino’s Piqued Jacks. Piqued Jacks will be competing in this year’s competition with their entry “Like An Animal” following their win at Una Voce Per San Marino
Following Piqued Jack’s first rehearsal, a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed Piqued Jacks before and after they took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how their first rehearsal went.
What did we learn about San Marino’s staging?

Piqued Jacks bring an atmospheric black and red performance to the Eurovision stage, with LEDs complete with eyes watching over the band. The band are dressed in black, and E-King is wearing a jacket bedazzled with red rhinestones which are apparently very glittery under the stage lights! The ESC liveblog described the performance as “gritty and raw”, with the band playing like a concert – they are clearly at home on the stage!
What we thought of Piqued Jack’ first rehearsal
After Piqued Jacks’ first rehearsal, Rory gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.
Who are Piqued Jacks?
Hailing from the small commune of Buggiano in Tuscany the band have nearly two decades of experience in the music industry; forming in 2006. The band consists of Andrea Lazzaretti (Vocalist), Francesco Bini (Bassist, vocalist), Marco Sgaramella (Guitarist, vocalist), and Tommaso Olivieri (drummer).
The band have commercially released four albums, with the most recent being ‘Syncroniser’, and are no newcomers to music competitions, having won the 2019 edition of Sanremo Rock.
San Marino’s Eurovision Journey
As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 12 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final). Their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”. Their recent participation saw them being represented by Italian superstar Achille Lauro, with the song “Stripper”. On May 12th, Achille performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed 14th in the semi-final, receiving 50 points from the Jury and Televoters.
