With the expectation that SVT and EBU will reveal the Host City of Eurovision 2024, we have an update on one of the cities in the running to host. It has been reported that Gothenburg will not be hosting the 68th Edition of the competition.
No reason revealed
As reported by Göteborgs Posten, Göteborg & Co., which submitted the bid for the city was contacted by SVT’s Project Manager.
It’s very sad. We are competitive people so we would have liked to have won and also had great support from politicians, the Swedish trade fair, the hotels and Gothia. But it is what it is

The host city of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, is set to be revealed later today.
Gothenburg and Eurovision
Gothenburg (Göteborg), is city is mostly known for hosting the 1985 contest, where Bobbysocks! won with their entry “La Det Swinge”. The city and Scandanavium has been a regular stop for its Eurovision selection Melodifestivalen. It was previously reported that Scandanvium might not be able to host Eurovision due to the arena not being able to meet the requirements.
The Journey to Eurovision 2024
The Nordic country will be hosting the 68th edition of the competition following Loreen’s historic win at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. One month after 2023 contest taking place SVT revealed the Core Team that will be working on the competition.
Three cities are still in the running to host the 68th edition of the competition, and they were:
- Malmö
- Örnsköldsvik
- Stockholm
