๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฒ San Marino confirms Eurovision 2024 participation

As we enter the last weeks before beginning the Eurovision 2024 season, another country has confirmed its participation. San Marino’s national broadcaster, San Marino RTV, has confirmed it will be present at next year’s Contest in Sweden.

National final to return for 2024

Speaking to the national broadcaster, Sammarinese tourism minister Federico Pedini Amati confirmed that Una Voce per San Marino would return for the next season. According to Amati, the contract between the broadcaster and private company Media Evolution had been renewed for a third year.

The Sammarinese minister added that there may be a return to the format used in 2022. In the first edition of the show, so-called ‘Big Artists’ had an automatic pass to the final of the show, whilst lesser-known artists were forced to compete in semi-finals. The edition was won by Achille Lauro, just weeks after failing to win Sanremo 2022.

SMRTV is yet to announce any information regarding the upcoming edition of the show. However, potential artists are typically able to attend castings in the country from January. The national broadcaster will reveal additional details of the selection in due course.

San Marino’s Eurovision journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song โ€œCompliceโ€. Since then they have participated in the competition 13 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and โ€œSay Na Na Naโ€.

Italian band Piqued Jacks represented San Marino in 2023 in Liverpool with the song โ€œLike An Animalโ€. The band performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed joint-last, receiving 0 points from the televote.
