Last month it was announced that Marina Satti would represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. It has now been revealed that Greek broadcaster ERT have received more than 50 song submissions for Marina.
No national final to select Marina Satti’s Eurovision 2024 entry
It has been reported by Greek media Typologies that there will be no national final to select Marina Satti’s entry. Financial reasons have been cited as the reason to not host a national final. It is also felt that Marina’s significance in the Greek music industry means that the song best suited to the artist should be an internal decision. Submissions for Marina’s entry are still open, they will close on December 1.
Greece’s Eurovision Journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 43 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have one once in 2005.
Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Victor Vernicos with the song “What They Say”. Following his performance, Greece failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 13th place in the second semi-final in Liverpool. He earned a total of 14 points from the televote.
