Greek journalist Katerina Theodoropoulou reported on programme “Geia Sou” this month that Marina Satti has rejected nearly all of the songs submitted to ERT.
“The demands of the whole team are high”
As EurovisionFun reported on in English, Greece’s 2024 Eurovision representative listened to nearly all of the 150 songs submitted prior to the December 1st submission deadline, and rejected all that she had listened to.
At the time of the “Geia Sou” broadcast, Satti had not yet listened to all of the submitted entries. She is also writing her own potential entries and has not ruled out representing Greece with something she has written herself.
Song selection will be carried out by her and her team as well as a team from ERT.
Greece’s Eurovision journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with โKrasi, thalassa ke tโagori mouโ which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 43 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have won once in 2005.
Greeceโs most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Victor Vernicos with the song โWhat They Sayโ. Following his performance, Greece failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 13th place in the second semi-final in Liverpool. He earned a total of 14 points from the televote.
