More details on Eurosong 2024 revealed

In an upcoming episode of the Éirevision podcast, it is revealed that RTÉ has planned to hold Eurosong 2024 on January 26th. The acts for the show will begin to be revealed on Monday (January 8th), with one act being revealed per day. As there are six acts competing, Wednesday (January 10th) will see two acts be revealed, together with their songs.

All six songs will be revealed on Ray D’Arcy’s morning show on RTÉ Radio 1 during the week. The exact format of the show has not been revealed yet. However, it is expected to be an equal split between an international jury, a national jury and the public vote.

Eurosong will have a new host as Patrick Kielty takes on the reins as the new host of The Late Late Show. He will be replacing Ryan Tubridy, who left the show last year. The show will take place at 9:35pm local time.

Ireland’s Eurovision journey

In 1965, Ireland made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with Butch Moore and the song “Walking the Streets in the Rain”, which managed to place 6th. Since their debut, Ireland has participated 56 times (making the Grand Final 45 times), and has won the competition seven times, which is currently tied for the record of most wins.

Ireland’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Wild Youth, with their song “We Are One”. They placed 12th in the semi-final, receiving 10 points from the televote, missing out on the Grand Final.
