Today, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2024, Finland’s show to select their Eurovision representant took place. It was won by Windows95man and they will represent the country with their song “No Rules!”.
Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2024 Final
The show was broadcasted on Yle TV 1 with commentary in Finnish, Swedish, English, Northern Sami, Inari Sami, Ukrainian and Russian, with Finnish Sign Language and Finnish-Swedish Sign Language. The competition was also broadcasted online at Yle Areena and via radio on YleX, Yle Radio Suomi and with commentary in Swedish on Yle X3M. Outside of Finland, TV3 (Estonia), Ten TV (Spain) and Out TV (Netherlands). The winner was picked by the international juries (25% of the vote) and the televote (75% of the televote)

Windows95man won and will represent Finland in Malmö in May. They will be competing in the 2nd half of the 1st Semi Final on 7th May 2024.
The show was hosted by actress Pilvi Hämäläinen, singer Benjamin and presenter Viivi Pumpanen. Opening the show we also saw last years contestants KUUMAA and Benjamin performing their songs “Ylivoimainen” and “Hoida Mut”. During the interval there was a guest performance from last years winner Käärijä and previous contestant Erika Vikman with their collaboration “Ruoska”. [Confirm if correct]
Finland’s Eurovision Journey
Finland debuted in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 10th with Laila Kunnunen’s “Valoa ikkunassa.” Since then they have competed 56 times, and appeared in the final 48 times. Finland has finished in the top 10 an impressive 14 times. They have won the contest once in 2006, with Lordi’s performance of “Hard Rock Hallelujah” getting 292 points.
Finland’s most recent entry was “Cha Cha Cha” by Käärijä. He won the first semi-final in Liverpool, thus qualifying for the final. At the close of voting, he gained a total of 526 points, earning them 2nd place – Finland’s second best result of all time. Käärijä received 376 points from the televote, and an extra 150 points from the juries.
