🇫🇮 That Eurovision Review: Denim and Eggs for Windows95man in his first rehearsal

Today the rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 start/continue in Malmö. Countries rehearsing on Day 2 include Iceland, Slovenia, Finland, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Australia, Portugal, and Luxembourg. The third to rehearse today is Finland’s Windows95Man.

Windows95man’s first rehearsal

The next to take to the Eurovision 2024 stage at Malmö Arena in Malmö was Finland’s Windows95man. Windows95man will be competing in this year’s competition with his entry “No Rules” following his win at UMK 2024.

Following Windows95man’s first rehearsal a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed Windows95man before and after he took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how well his first rehearsal went.

What did we learn about Windows95man’s staging?

For Windows95man’s first rehearsal, the live blog on Reddit noted that the Denim Egg has indeed made it to Malmö, the staging for this is largely the same from UMK. There have been some additions from the national final. There is some use of LED wall, to add a cloud effect. The blog indicates this is reminiscent of old Windows screensaver. The blog has also noted there seems to be more power within this performance than in the national final. The delegation did do a run with pyro for their final run through of the song

Who is Windows95man

Teemu Keisteri, better known as Windows95man is from Espoo in Finland. In Finland Windows95man works as a singer, DJ and model. He first rose to fame in the DJ industry, playing shows all over Finland. Throughout his career Windows95man has released two EPs “Yaska Yaska” in 2019, and “Epic Tax Party” in 2021.

Windows95man loves the nineties Eurodance scene, and his fans had been longing for him to do Eurovision for many years. On Spotify Windows95man is described as a “shy nerd” and “a sweet and pleasant individual.

“No Rules” was written by Teemu himself alongside Jussi Roine and Henri Piispanen. Henri also provides his own vocals in the song and is a big part of the stage performance of “No Rules”.

Finland’s Eurovision Journey

Finland debuted in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 10th with Laila Kunnunen’s “Valoa ikkunassa.” Since then they have competed 56 times, and appeared in the final 48 times. Finland has finished in the top 10 an impressive 14 times. They have won the contest once in 2006, with Lordi’s performance of “Hard Rock Hallelujah” getting 292 points.

Finland’s most recent entry was “Cha Cha Cha” by Käärijä. He won the first semi-final in Liverpool, thus qualifying for the final. At the close of voting, he gained a total of 526 points, earning them 2nd place – Finland’s second best result of all time. Käärijä received 376 points from the televote, and an extra 150 points from the juries.
