A multi-stage process:
SMRTV are undertaking multiple stages to select this year’s representative for San Marino! The competition works as follows:
- Online registration, where interested artists are able to register their interest and verify their eligibility to compete. Artists are able to submit a recording of themselves performing an original song or cover, be given an opinion by one of the UVSPM experts, and can then choose to enrol in the rest of the process. There were over 700 applications in total. Applications were open between October 23rd 2024 and January 14th 2024
- Academy and casting, which began in November 2023 continued until 22nd January 2024. This stage invites all artists who have enrolled to San Marino’s Sala Polivalente to learn more about UVPSM and the music industry, and then audition in front of UVPSM’s casting experts.
- Semi-finals, where 129 artists from the casting process will perform live for the UVPSM selection panel. It is possible for some established artists to skip the previous stages of the casting process and advance directly to the semi-finals. At this stage, artists should be able to perform their proposed, unreleased entry. There will also be a repechage round specifically for Sammarinese artists. The semi-finals will be broadcast with a delay on SMRTV.
- Grand final, which will consist of (about) 16 artists and will take place on 17th February 2024. A jury of five members will select the winning act who will represent San Marino at Eurovision 2024!
