What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from the first Semi-Final of Pesma Za Evroviziju 2024?

Daniel (“Duga je noć”): Filip Baloš has done it again. Duga je noć is in the simplest of terms, an absolute bop. I had high expectations after Novi Plan Drugi San and he’s risen to match them. His last entry was staged really well and I expect this to be no different, a serious contender for the win in my book.

Kittens (“Novo, bolje”): A returning queen needs a solid track and Novo, bolje does not disappoint! This semi feels very strong but this one came out on top for me because of the beat & the catchy chorus, but I also appreciate that it’s got a message (well it *is* a Konstrakta track after all) and I can’t wait to see the staging, I’m anticipating a strong performance!

Jazzi (“Muzika”): This is a little more low-key than other songs in the selection, however I think it works really nicely. There is something quite dark and mysterious about it with the combination of music styles. The rap and jazz music elements actually work really nicely together and it comes. I think this is just something different that works really nicely.

Serbia’s Eurovision Journey

In 2007, Serbia made its debut as an independent country, having previously participated as part of Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro. There, they were represented by Marija Šerifović with “Molitva”, which managed to win the competition. Since their debut, Serbia has participated 15 times (12 of which, where they qualified for the Grand Final).

Luke Black represented Serbia at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool with his song “Samo mi se spava”. At this year’s competition, Serbia managed to qualify for the Grand Final, where they placed 24th. At the close of voting, he received 30 points – 14 coming from the jury and 16 from the televote.
