Australia at Eurovision 2024
Australia were initially invited to compete at Eurovision in 2015 for the contest’s 60th anniversary; this offer was later extended through 2023. While there was some uncertainty about Australia’s continued participation in 2024 and beyond, they were eventually included on the official participants list released by the EBU in December.
All about Electric Fields
Electric Fields are an Australian electronic music duo consisting of Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross. Fielding is an Aboriginal Australian, and he, in addition to English, sings in Pitjantjara and Yankunytjatjara, languages from the APY lands where he was raised. The pair formed in 2015, and in 2019 participated in Eurovision – Australia Decides with their song “2000 and whatever” – eventually finishing second behind Kate Miller-Heidke.
Australia’s Eurovision Journey
The most recent country to debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, Australia debuted in 2015. Guy Sebastian represented the land down-under with his entry “Tonight Again” in Vienna, where they managed to place 5th. Since their debut, they have participated every single year of the competition.
In 2023, Voyager were internally selected to represent Australia with their entry “Promise”. Performing in the second semi-final, Australia finished first in their semi-final, qualifying for the Grand Final. The band eventually finished in 9th place, receiving 151 points – 21 from the televote and 130 from the juries.
