As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next entry we will be reacting to is Greece, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Zari” by Marina Satti.
Our thoughts on “Zari”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members of the team will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “Zari”
What did the other members of the team think of “Zari”?
Daniel: As Greek as gyros with tzatziki, what I both wanted and expected from Marina Satti. Greek is back at Eurovision and with a bang as well, my initial thoughts were that the song was quite messy, but it’s really grown on me since the first listen, and I think it’s always great when a country sends songs inspired by their traditional sounds.
Jazzi: I love how this meshes together traditional Greek elements I feel this is something fans have wanted from Greece for a while. This is fun and upbeat as well and certainly something that will get people up and dancing. I am really curious about how they will stage this in May. I think this has potential to be a shock Top 5 even a shock Top 3. I just think it has all the elements that leads itself to being an all time great Eurovision moment. I am really excited by this entry.

Greece’s Eurovision Journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 43 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have won once, in 2005.
Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Victor Vernicos with the song “What They Say”. Following his performance, Greece failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 13th place in the second semi-final in Liverpool. He earned a total of 14 points from the televote.
