As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next entry we will be reacting to is Switzerland, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “The Code” by Nemo.
Our thoughts on “The Code”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three other members will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Shiloh will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “The Code”
What did the other members of the team think of “The Code”?
Georgia: WOW. That’s all I have to say. I’m sort of kidding. The first time I listened to this I was so blown away. The song has a little bit of everything so I can understand why people would feel it’s messy or jumbled, but I think it just works. Nemo is an exceptional vocalist and I feel the story of their journey to self-acceptance will really resonate with first-time viewers, especially members of the LGBTQIA community. While it needs to be staged well for it to truly work, but if Nemo and their team are able to pull it off, I truly believe that Switzerland could win Eurovision for the first time since 1988.
Daniel: Winner vibes. This has absolutely everything. I was very excited when I saw some of the team behind Maria Celin’s Freya from MGP 2023 were behind the song, and my already high expectations were absolutely blown away. All the different elements of the song blend together flawlessly, and the overall message of self-acceptance is a great one. I hope Nemo is loud and proud on stage and I think we might all be heading to Switzerland next year!
Kittens: I have to echo everyone else on this. This track has that massive wow factor that keeps building and building in such an irresistible fashion. I love that it’s a personal story and I love the energy that comes with it. With all the different parts at play in this, it would be easy for things to go wrong, but it’s testament to everyone who put this together that it works together so smoothly and doesn’t sound like a mess. Personally my winner and I am going to reservedly hope for at least a top 5 finish for this.

Switzerland’s most recent participation saw them being represented by Remo Forrer with his song “Watergun”. Performing in the first semi-final, he qualified for the Grand Final for a fourth consecutive participation. In the final, Switzerland finished 20th, after receiving 92 points. Of these, 61 came from the jury and 31 points came from the televote.
