Today the rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 continue in Malmö. Countries rehearsing on Day 3 include Malta, Albania, Greece, Switzerland, Czechia, Austria, Denmark, and Armenia. The fourth to rehearse today is Switzerland’s Nemo.
Nemo’s first rehearsal
The next to take to the Eurovision 2024 stage at Malmö Arena in Malmö was Switzerland’s Nemo. Nemo will be competing in this year’s competition with their entry “The Code” following their internal selection.
Following Nemo’s first rehearsal a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed them before and after they took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how well their first rehearsal went.
What did we learn about Nemo’s staging?

According to the Eurovision liveblog on Reddit, Nemo is dressed in a pink and white outfit that is made out of fur. A prop has also been brought onto the stage, that Nemo interacts with. The prop is a similar to that of a spinning top that pivots on itself, allowing for Nemo to run up, slide down and spin around with. Those in the arena have described the staging as something “never seen at Eurovision before”, and with timing and balance needing to be precise, Switzerland’s chances of winning depend on their run of good rehearsals.
What we thought of Nemo’s first rehearsal
After Switzerland’s first rehearsal, Daniel gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.
Who is Nemo?
Nemo Mettler, who goes by their first name Nemo professionally, was born in 1999 in Biel, Switzerland. They started their career making music in German before switching to primarily English in around 2020. They achieved the highest peak on the Swiss charts in 2017 with “Du” (You), the lead single of the EP “Fundbüro” (Lost and Found). Alongside their singing career, they took part in the second season of The Masked Singer Switzerland in 2021, finishing fifth. Additionally, they are currently appearing on “Sing My Song – The Swiss Exchange Concert” alongside Switzerland’s Eurovision 2022 representative Marius Bear.
Nemo will participate in Eurovision 2024 with the song “The Code”. It was written by themself, Benjamin Alasu, Lasse Midtsian Nymann and Linda Dale. The producers are Lasse Midtsian Nymann, Benjamin Alasu, Tom Oehler, Wojciech Kostrzewa, Pele Loriano, Nemo Mettler and Nikodem Milewski.
Switzerland’s Eurovision Journey
Switzerland both hosted and debuted in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Their first participation was successful, as they won with Lys Assia’s “Refrain”. Since then, they have participated on 62 occasions, making the Grand Final 51 times.
Switzerland’s most recent participation saw them being represented by Remo Forrer with his song “Watergun”. Performing in the first semi-final, he qualified for the Grand Final for a fourth consecutive participation. In the final, Switzerland finished 20th, after receiving 92 points. Of these, 61 came from the jury and 31 points came from the televote.
