With a performance like this you’re going to need to wait for the camera shots, but from what we can see is promising. Marina, who is wearing a white cropped top and a puffball skirt, joined by her four dancers, has brought the energy, they fuse street dance moves with the traditional elements we know and love Marina for. There’s a lot of colour behind her on the LEDs looking like graffiti, with “ZARI” floating on it in Neon pink. According to the live blog the deep bass of the “Ta Ta Ta” vibrates all around the arena.

What we thought of Marina’s first rehearsal

After Greece’s first rehearsal, Rory gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.

Who is Marina Satti

Cretan raised, 37 year old Marina Satti is set to be Greece’s entrant at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest. Marina’s music career began during her classical training in jazz music, which saw her move to the United States to further her studies. In addition to her vocal abilities, Marina can play the piano. Her breakthrough in the national and international music scene came in 2017 when ‘Mantissa’ became her first charting single, and ultimately received Gold certification. Her first album came in 2022 with the release of ‘Yenna’.
Eurovision is not her first dealings with the EBU however. Prior to her pop career Marina participated as ERT’s representative for the EBU Jazz Orchestra. Her international jazz career didn’t end there as she also performed at the World Jazz Nonet in the United States. Outwith her music career, Marina did venture into the world of architecture, having enrolled at the National Technical University of Athens before leaving to further her music career.

Marina’s 2024 Eurovision entry ‘Zari’ was written and produced by herself and a team that included; Ermis Geragidis, Gino Borri, Jay Lewitt Stolar, Jordan Richard Palmer, Konstantin Plamenov Beshkov, Manolis Solidakis, Michael Stathakis, Nick Kodonas, Oge, Pablo Alcántara, Sam Tiba, and Vlospa. ‘Zari’ will be performed 3rd in the second semi final.

Greece’s Eurovision Journey

In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 43 occasions (40 of which made the Grand Final), and have won once, in 2005.

Greece’s most recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Victor Vernicos with the song “What They Say”. Following his performance, Greece failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 13th place in the second semi-final in Liverpool. He earned a total of 14 points from the televote.
