Yesterday, Belgium’s Mustii took to the stage at Malmö Arena for his first Eurovision 2024 rehearsal. It has been confirmed by RTBF, that the outfit he rehearsed in is not his final outfit for the contest.
RTBFs thoughts on Mustii’s rehearsal
Overall, RTBF were very happy with Mustii’s first rehearsal. The broadcaster said this in their article when speaking about it.
“Cette première répétition a non seulement confirmé le talent de Mustii, mais a aussi mis en évidence la créativité et l’originalité de la Belgique à l’Eurovision. Avec une telle entrée en matière, Mustii pourrait bien propulser notre plat pays sous les feux des projecteurs.”
“This first rehearsal not only confirmed Mustii’s talent, but also highlighted Belgium’s creativity and originality at Eurovision. With such an introduction, Mustii could well propel our flat country into the spotlight.”

However there is one element of Mustii’s performance that RTBF wants to change. That is the outfit he is wearing on stage. They said the following in regard to this.
“This outfit, although splendid, is not definitive and will be refined for the Eurovision semi-final. A wise choice of stylist Elke Oost who not only chose to value Mustii but also wanted her creation to play a key role in the staging.”

Belgium’s Eurovision Journey
Belgium was one of the debutant countries at the beginning of the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956. For the first edition, countries could submit two songs, and for Belgium that year, ‘Messieurs les noyes de la Seine’ by Fud Leclerc and ‘Le plus beau jour de ma vie’ by Mony Marc represented the nation. To this day we do not know the final results of Eurovision 1956. Belgium have taken part in 64 Eurovision Song Contests; however they have only ever won once – in 1986 with Sandra Kim singing the song ‘J’amie la vie’, scoring 176 points.
In 2023, Gustaph represented Belgium with the song “Because of You”. Gustaph qualified from the second semi-final, eventually finishing in 7th place with a total of 182 points. The juries awarded Belgium 127 points, whilst the televote gave 55 points to the performance.
