Today, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 continue in Malmö. The first half of semi-final two had their second rehearsals and the Big Five and Sweden had their first rehearsals. Countries rehearsing for the first time on Day 6 include the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain and Italy. The last to rehearse is Italy’s Angelina Mango.
Angelina Mango’s first rehearsal
The sixth to take the Eurovision 2024 stage at Malmö Arena in Malmö was Italy’s Angelina Mango. She will be competing in this year’s competition with her entry “La Noia” after she won the Italian selection, Sanremo.
Following Italy’s first rehearsal, a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed her before and after she took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how well her first rehearsal went.
What did we learn about Angelina’s staging?

Angelina’s staging is a far cry from her staging at Sanremo, according to the Eurovision live blog on Reddit. She is joined by 5 dancers, whereas at Sanremo she was alone. For her outfit she is in a sparkly red corset. In the LED walls there is a touch with nature with images of flowers and trees being projected. There is also a pyro curtain towards the end of the performance.
What we thought of Angelina’s first rehearsal
After Italy’s first rehearsal, Rory gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.
Who is Angelina Mango?
Born into a musical family as the daughter of singers Matia Bazar and Giuseppe Mango, Angelina has been performing since her early youth both as a singer and dancer. At the age of 10, she was a backing vocalist on her father’s cover of Starlight on his final album La Terra degli aquiloni.
Her dad passed away in 2014, and she would go on to perform an orchestral rearrangement of his song “La Rondine” on Sanremo Covers Night, receiving a standing ovation.
Angelina started releasing music in 2020 with “Va tutto bene” being her first single. She would release a debut EP, called “Monolocale” the following year and perform at Milan Music Week and in the selections for Sanremo Giovani.
In 2023 she released the song “Ci pensiamo domani” which has since been certified as quadruple platinum in Italy with over 400,000 certified sales.
Her Eurovision Song “La Noia” was written by Angelina alongside Madame and Dardust, who also produced the track. The song will feature on her debut album “Poké melodrama” which will be released on 31 May.
Italy’s Eurovision History
Italy has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since the beginning and has always been considered a powerhouse. The country has won the contest on three occasions in 1964, 1990 and 2021. Italy withdrew after 1997, returning in 2011 with Raphael Gualazzi who sang ‘Madness Of Love’. Raphael placed second in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest after scoring 189 points.
Italy’s most recent entry in 2023 was “Due Vite” by Marco Mengoni. At the close of voting, Italy scored 350 points in the Eurovision 2023 Grand Final, placing 4th. Of these, 176 points came from the juries, whilst the remaining 174 points came from the televote.
