Ukraine’s Jerry Heil has made her first solo release since taking third at Eurovision 2024 for Ukraine, with the EP “MARIA” – which includes the Eurovision entry Teresa & Maria, as well as the leading single “VIRGIN MARIA” for which a music video was produced.
About “MARIA”
“MARIA” has four tracks, each focusing on the theme of spirituality, reflecting Jerry’s own experiences and emotions. About the EP Jerry Heil said:
“The album ‘MARIA’ is my reflection as a believer, a musician, and a woman living in a
country forced to fight an aggressor. It includes prayers, despair, faith, and a struggle against
stereotypical notions of what a modern woman is. The album refers to the image of the Virgin
Mary, a woman who is idealized and canonized. But such exaltation results in superhuman
expectations. So who is the modern woman, the modern Maria, living in Ukraine?”

Jerry Heil’s Eurovision Journey.
Jerry Heil competed in Eurovision 2024 alongside fellow Ukrainian artist alyona alyona. Following on from winning national final Vidbir, they went on to place third at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. The song “Teresa and Maria” scored a total of 453 points. Of these points 146 were from the national juries, while they received 307 points from the audiences at home.
