The participation list for Eurovision 2025 continues to take shape. This time, another country has confirmed their participation, and it is the United Kingdom, who will be participating for the 67th time.
The UK’s 67th participation
The UK’s participation in Switzerland was confirmed by the broadcaster on its socials, where it reveals that the BBC will be participating in the 68th edition of the competition.
At the time of writing, the BBC is yet to reveal how they will be selecting their representative for Switzerland. In recent years, the UK’s representative was selected via an internal selection (2011-2015 & 2020-2024) and a National Final (2016-2019).
The news of the BBC’s participation in Switzerland comes after it was revealed that the UK will not be participating at Junior Eurovision 2024 in Madrid.
United Kingdom’s Eurovision Journey
The UK is one of the most successful countries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Debuting at the second edition ever of the Contest in 1957, the United Kingdom won the competition on five separate occasions. The most recent win for the UK was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves, singing “Love Shine A Light”. The UK also holds the record for the number of second place finishes – currently at 16.
In 2024, Olly Alexander represented the UK on in Malmö with his song “Dizzy”. At the close of voting, the UK finished 18th in a field of 25, earning a total of 46 points. All these points came from the jury.
