Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne has announced that their Junior Eurovision 2024 selection show Shchodennyky Dytyachoho Yevrobachennya (Diaries of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest) will begin on August 18th. These shows will be broadcasted on Eurovision Ukraine’s YouTube channel at 17:30 local time. The selection will run for 6 weeks and will be hosted by Timur Miroshnychenko and Anna Tulyeva. At the end of the selection, Ukraine will choose their representative for Madrid.

What we already knew about Shchodennyky Dytyachoho Yevrobachennya

Following on from receiving 309 applications for the national final, Suspilne have now chosen 15 to go on to their “Star School”. Where the participants will learn about performing skills, and be successful singers will be matched with songs to compete with in the national final. following on from the “Sta School”, the participating acts will be whittled down to just 6 for the national selection.

  • Anhelina Hlohus
  • Anna Doyna

  • Artem Kotenko
  • Vladyslava Kitselyuk (VLADA K)
  • Sofiya Nersesyan
  • Vsevolod Skryma
  • Zlata Solenko (Zlata Solo)
  • Zlata Ivaniv

Ukraine’s final selection for Madrid will take place in September, like the adult national final Vidbir the representative will be chosen by a combination of online voting and a 3 member jury.

Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision journey 

In 2006, Ukraine made their debut to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Nazar Slyusarchuk and the song “Khlopchyk Rock ‘n’ Roll” (Хлопчик рок ‘н’ ролл), which placed 9th. Since their debut, the Eastern European nation has participated 17 times, and even won once in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk and her song “Nebo” (Небо).

In 2022, Ukraine selected its representative through a national final, where Anastasia Dymyd won the right to represent the nation with “Kvitka”, which managed to place 5th receiving 128 points from the jury and online vote.
