Today, Latvian broadcaster LTV has revealed that 96 songs have been submitted to Supernova 2025, which is a slight decrease from 108, which was received for 2024. The entries submitted will be used to help determine Latvia’s representative for Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland.

What happens next?

The songs will now be assessed via a jury before an unspecified number are picked to move on to the live shows. The artists taking part in Supernova 2025 will be revealed by November, with the final of Supernova taking place in February 2025.

Speaking about the submission of entries, Agnese Kubliņa, Head of the Entertainment and Documentary Content Editorial Department of Latvian Television (LTV) comments:

Although the number of applications has not increased, the competition promises to be splendid and fierce. Among the participants, there is a wide spectrum of talents, representing various genres of music – from already-known names to brand-new talents. The show promises to be a real musical adventure! In addition, this year there are more surprises than ever before, proving that the Eurovision Song Contest is a unique opportunity to appeal to a huge audience around the world!

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015.

Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Dons, who performed “Hollow”. The song qualified from the semi-final. This is the country’s first qualification since 2016. In the Grand Final Dons finished in 16th with 64 points. Of these points 26 were from the public vote, and 38 were from the national juries.
