Yesterday, after much speculation, Sweden’s SVT released the full list of artists that will participate at next year’s Melodifestivalen; Sweden’s longstanding Eurovision selection, that will chose its entry for Basel. We were on the ground in Stockholm, and Tim had a chance to speak to some of this year’s acts; including Malou Prytz, who will sing 24k Gold.
Check out our interview with Malou here:
Malou Prytz will sing 24k Gold at the third semi final Västerås on the 15th of February.
Who is Malou Prytz?
24K Gold marks the fourth time Malou will appear at Melodifestivalen, and the first time that she will be writing her own entry. Her debut came in 2019 I Do Me which is to date her best result where she managed to make the final and ultimately came 12th. She managed to come 2nd in Andra Chansen and 7th in her semi final for the 2020 and 2022 editions of the contest respectively.
Sweden’s Eurovision journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In 2024, Sweden were represented on home soil by Marcus and Martinus. As the host entry, their song “Unforgettable” did not need to compete in the semi-finals. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 174 points. 125 points were received by the juries, while the twins received 49 points by televoters.
