In the run up to the 2025 edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest, Daniel had the chance to speak to Rhythmic Soulwave, who will be amongst the seven competitors in next month’s selection.

Daniel and Rhythmic Soulwave spoke about the history behind the band, the inspiration they draw from the diversity of both their band and their country, and how Carmen’s sister Naomi inspired them to participate in the selection.
About Rhythmic Soulwave
Rhythmic Soulwave is a six-piece music group containing Mael Fontana, Leopold Strauß, Angela Aguilera Caballero, Diego Lucero, Zakar Lörinc and Carmen Carbonnell Suarez. With roots from Luxembourg, Spain, Hungary and Cuba, the band take influence from jazz, classical, pop rock and Latin music.
Luxembourg’s Eurovision Journey
Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michèle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.
Luxembourg returned to the contest for the first time in 31 years in 2024. Tali, represented Luxembourg in Malmö, with the song “Fighter”. At the close of voting in the first semi-final, it was announced Tali had qualified for the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, “Fighter” received 103 points. 83 points were from the national juries, while 20 points were from the televoters.
