Speaking about the draw, Ukraine’s Head of Delegation Oksana Skybinska comments:
This year, we held a draw to determine the order of the participants’ appearances in the Action for maximum transparency of the process. A similar draw will traditionally take place in the second half of January to determine the order of performances in the final. In any case, we encourage you to listen to the participants’ full songs before voting to choose the best musical track. They will be available on the Eurovision Ukraine YouTube channel
The voting for the wildcard will be open between January 13-17 on the Diya app, with the winner to be revealed on January 17. The wildcard entries will be available to listen to on the official Eurovision Ukraine YouTube channel from January 13. The winner will join the nine artists, which are already in the final.
Ukraine’s Eurovision 2025 representative will be selected via a three-person jury panel, which will consist of Jamala, GO_A’s Kateryna Pavlenko, and Serhiy Tanchynets, frontman of the band BEZ OBMEZHEN, and televote, and is set to take place in February.
Ukraine’s Eurovision journey
Ukraine is one of the most successful countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has scored nine top-five placements, with an extra four top-ten finishes. Ukraine won the Contest three times – in 2004, 2016 and 2022 respectively. Ukraine made history for being the first ex-Soviet country to win the Contest more than once, and is one of only two countries (the other being recently-returned Luxembourg) to maintain a perfect semifinal qualification streak.
In 2024 alyona alyona and Jerry Heil represented Ukraine in Malmö with their song “Teresa and Maria”. The duo finished in 3rd place, scoring 453 points – of which 146 points came from the jury, whilst the remaining 307 points came from the televote.
