Sara Bro and Stéphanie Surrugue have been revealed to be hosting Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025 which will be happening on the 1st of March.
What do we know about Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025?
The show is set to air on the 1st of March within Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark with eight contestants participating. The artists are set to be announced on the 6th of February at a press conference in DR Koncerthuset. The show is set to air live on DR1 and DRTV. The show will air at 8 pm in Denmark and 7 pm GMT.
Nearly 1 million of the Danish public watched the 2024 edition which program manager for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix DR Erik Struve Hansen had suggested could also happen to the 2025 edition.
Who are Sara Bro and Stéphanie Surrugue?
Sara Bro is a Danish actress and singer in projects such as Regel nr. 1, Små ulykker and Epilog. She was born on the 27th of April 1974 in Copenhagen. She hosted Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2024 and has also taken part in radio with her first role as a children’s radio host within the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. This later led to her radio show Sara Bro on DR2.
Stephanie Surrugue was also a host in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2024. She was born on 3 February 1977. In 2012 she won a TV award for Current Affairs Program of the Year before she joined Go’ morgen Danmark in 2014. In 2023, she won a Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassador award and in 2022 she won Prix Audio for News and Current Affairs Programme of the Year for the podcast series Stjerner og striber.
Denmark’s Eurovision Journey
Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1957 and notched up their first win in 1963 with Grethe and Jørgan Ingmann’s “Dansevise”. Denmark later earned two third-place finishes in 1988 and 1989 but was then relegated three times in 1994, 1996, and 1998. They finally achieved their second victory in 2000 with the Olsen Brothers’ “Fly on the Wings of Love”, and have missed the Grand Final eight times since the introduction of the semi-finals. A six-year qualification streak from 2008 culminated in its third win in 2013 with Emmelie de Forrest’s “Only Teardrops”.
Most recently, Saba represented Denmark after winning their national selection with her song “Sand”. She placed twelfth in the second semifinal, scoring 36 points.
