Dutch Eurovision representative Claude has officially presented ‘C’est La Vie’; which will represent The Netherlands at the 2025 Contest in Basel.
‘C’est La Vie’
Despite being one of the first acts to be announced for the 2025 contest, ‘C’est La Vie’ becomes the 22nd song release for May’s contest. The song debuted today across streaming services and radio stations across The Netherlands. ‘C’est La Vie’ is a bilingual song in both French & English.
Who is Claude?
Congolese born Dutch singer Claude Kiambe has been active in the music world since 2019. He gained some following when he participated in the Dutch edition of the The Voice Kids. He rose to prominence in 2022 when his song ‘Ladada (Mon den mot)’ shot to number number one in The Netherlands. Earlier this year he released his debut album ‘Parler français’.
The Netherlands’ Eurovision Journey
The Netherlands are one of the founding countries of the ESC, having performed the very first song ever on the Eurovision stage back in 1956. While the result of “De Vogels van Holland” is unknown, the Netherlands have garnered 5 wins, with their most recent in 2019. However the Netherlands are also known to have had the longest ever non qualification streak in the semi-final era – they missed out on the final a whopping 8 times between 2005 and 2012.
Joost Klein represented the Netherlands in 2024 with the song “Europapa”. While he was ultimately disqualified, he would have made it to the final, placing second in his semifinal with 182 points.
