As the pre-party circuit continues to build for this year, the Barcelona Eurovision Party has been cancelled. This has been confirmed by the organisers of the party itself.
Barcelona Eurovision Party bows out of pre-party circuit
In a post released on their social media platforms, the Barcelona Eurovision Party confirmed an event will not take place. The post revealed that the show had been due to take place. However, issues that were outside of the organisers’ control were responsible for the cancellation.
The party organisers wrote:
Our goal has always been to delvier an unforgettable show and to elevate the event to new heights. This includes a move to a more central venue.
However, despite our best efforts and due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to secure a suitable date at any venue in Barcelona. Be it theatres, clubs or concert halls.
Organisers went on to thank fans for their continued support for the party and said the party would hope to be back next year. As a result, there will now be just four pre-parties in 2025. These are the London Eurovision Party, Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam, the Nordic Eurovision Party in Oslo and Pre-Party ES in Madrid.
The story of Eurovision 2025 so far
Switzerland will be hosting the 69th edition of the competition following Nemo’s historic win at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. A few weeks after their win, Reto Peritz, and Moritz Stadler, was announced as the Executive Producers, with the other roles revealed in July 2024.
Basel, Bern & Biel/Bienne, Geneva, and Zurich submitted bids to host next year’s competition, with Basel and Geneva being shortlisted as the final two cities. After the shortlist, it was revealed that Basel will host Eurovision 2025, at St. Jakobshalle with the shows taking place on May 13, 15 and 17.
