🇳🇴 Kyle Alessandro undergoes emergency surgery after rehearsal

After taking to the Eurovision stage for the first time, Kyle Alessandro has undergone emergency surgery after his first rehearsal.

Surgery triggered by wisdom teeth

Kyle was one of the first acts to rehearse on Sunday (May 4th), as the schedules for first rehearsals continue to kick off.

Speaking to Norway’s public broadcaster NRK, Head of Delegation Mads Tørklep said that Kyle was barely able to complete his first rehearsal. According to Mads:

He was barely able to open his mouth early today and took strong painkillers to be able to complete the rehearsals.

Following his first rehearsal, he was soon rushed to an emergency dentist, who revealed there had been a “severe gum infection”. The dentist added this was being caused by his wisdom teeth, and they would have to be removed immediately. The teeth were pulled out, and Kyle is now under strict orders not to take on any physical activity. As a result, Kyle’s schedule has been cleared for the time being.

According to Kyle, the pain in his mouth began last Monday (April 28th):

I didn’t think much of it and thought it would probably go away after a few days, but since then the pain has only gotten worse and worse, until today (Sunday). We started the day with the first rehearsal in the arena, and it went extremely well.

After the rehearsals, I started to have quite a lot of pain again, so we had an emergency appointment at the dentist, which resulted in the tooth being pulled.

Now the dentist has said that I need to rest until Wednesday (May 7th), then this will be fine.

Norway’s Eurovision journey

The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 62 times, and made the Grand Final 59 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times – in 1985, 1995, and 2009.

Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Gåte with the song “Ulveham”. After qualifying for the final, Norway placed 25th and last place in the Grand Final, receiving 16 points, 12 of which from the jury and 4 from televoters.
