While Swedish broadcaster SVT finalizes the list of artists participating in their Eurovision 2026 selection, Melodifestivalen, rumors regarding who will be participating in the 66th edition of the competition continue to be reported. This time, Eurovision alum Robin Bengtsson is the latest artist to be reported as part of the line-up, as reported by Expressen.
A fifth participation in the cards
Robin Bengtsson is no stranger to Melodifestivalen. He made his debut in the competition in 2016 with “Constellation Prize“, where he placed 5th. The following year, he went on to win the competition with “I Can’t Go On” and represented Sweden in Kyiv where he qualified for the final and placed 5th. Since then, he has participated in Melodifestivalen twice; in 2020 and his latest attempt in 2022 with “Innocent Love” which made the final, making him one of the artists who have a 100% success rate in qualifying for the final.
In its report, Expressen mentions that Robin submitted an entry for this year’s contest, but was rejected by SVT. Instead, Robin was in Melodifestivalen, where he was a backing vocalist for Erik Segerstedt’s entry “Show Me What Love Is“, which placed 9th in the final.

The line-up for Melodifestivalen 2026 is currently being finalised, with the line-up set to be revealed later in the Autumn.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song โLilla stjรคrnaโ which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In 2025, Sweden were represented by Finnish group KAJ, singing “Bara bada bastu”. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 321 points, finishing in 4th place. 126 points were received by the juries, while the trio received 195 points by televoters.
