Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision journey
In 2006, Ukraine made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Nazar Slyusarchuk and the song “Khlopchyk Rock ‘n’ Roll” (Хлопчик рок ‘н’ ролл), which placed 9th. Since their debut, the Eastern European nation has participated 17 times, and even won once in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk and her song “Nebo” (Небо).
Following a fifth-place finish in 2023, Ukraine achieved another top-five finish in 2024, when Artem Kotenko and his song “Hear Me Now” placed third. He placed second in both individual voting categories, receiving 122 points from the jury and 81 from the televote, but was ultimately beaten out by Georgia and Portugal, respectively.
